This design uses a 30° Vee bit but a 60° Vee bit can also be used if desired.
The oval shape is cutout in two steps with a chamfer toolpath between the two cutout toolpaths. This ensures the stock is secure while cutting the chamfer.
There may be small gaps between the walnut and maple after flattening the inserted plug. Gaps can be filled with a glue and walnut sawdust mixture and sanded smooth after it dries.
You can create your own flattening toolpath based on the thickness of the plug stock used.
