This project has 3 pieces; front (with name), back (blank), & metal opener (middle section purchased from amazon). You'll also need 5 minute epoxy, bench sander (or similar tool), carpet tape (or equivalent double sided adhesive).

Here's the exact set I purchased from Amazon. 6 included in the package for ~$14. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0742JHPSM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=161boards posted 6 years ago
These are sick! What thickness of wood did you use and where did you get it?rexwoodworking posted 6 years ago
I picked the stock up at my local Rockler. They have 24inx3in exotic stock in variable thicknesses. Mine was about 1/8" thick.mkapras posted 6 years ago
So you just epoxy the two wood slabs to the bottle opener? Whats the double sided tape for?rexwoodworking posted 5 years ago
yep! Epoxy is for attaching the wood to the opener. Double sided tape is to hold down the stock/material for cutting on the CNC.MrMan posted 5 years ago

Great looking project! How did you change the feedrate and plungerate in the v-carve toolpath?Keith posted 5 years ago
Nevermind I see that in the tool setup!CombatSent posted 5 years ago
What bit did you use for the v-carve? Bit #14 isn't in my Carbide Create database.rexwoodworking posted 5 years ago

When I download the file there is a notch at one end that doesn't show up in the photo's posted. Is there a reason for the notch?elicitone posted 5 years ago

I'm also seeing the notch mentioned in the above comment. Any idea?rexwoodworking posted 5 years ago
Interesting, I wonder if it has to do with newer versions of carbide motion? This was posted about a year ago, so the gcode could be out of date? I'll have to take a look and make updates.archerintl posted 5 years ago
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out!JimInAshland posted 5 years ago
Nice job. I made one like this but I used Vectric Aspire and did a V-Carve inlay of text with maple inlay onto walnut base. Pretty slick. Google "The VCarve Inlay Technique" for the process. I used the 60 degree V-Bit (for my gcode) and I used Amazon for the blanks because they are cheaper than Rockler.millerladam posted 3 years ago
I am new at this but it looks like the right side is showing up with a flat spot and not completely round. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? All I did was open the file. I have not bought a machine yet, just trying to understand and learn the software. Thank you.You must be signed in to leave a comment.
